Minister Weerwind visits Ultimoo Incasso
Last week, the Minister for Legal Protection, Franc Weerwind, paid a visit to Ultimoo Incasso in Woerden. In light of the new Debt Collection Quality Act (Wki), the Minister visited an NVI-certified company to observe the practical application of debt collection services firsthand.
The Minister was welcomed on behalf of the NVI (Dutch Association of Certified Debt Collection Agencies) by Connie Maathuis and Arjan Stigter. After a brief introduction to the Wki and the debt collection landscape in the Netherlands, Minister Weerwind joined two of Ultimoo's collection specialists. The Minister listened attentively to several live phone conversations with debtors.
Focus on Sustainable Solutions
Minister Weerwind praised the professionalism with which Ultimoo’s employees resolve payment arrears. He particularly appreciated the empathetic listening ear and the space provided for personal attention to debtors, as confirmed by Sylvia van den Heuvel, senior rental collection specialist at Ultimoo. "The Minister was very interested in the support we offer debtors. We don't just look at the current debt; we strive for a sustainable solution that ensures the tenant can continue to meet their obligations in the future. He was very impressed by this approach."
This method, combined with the commitment to resolving debts without judicial intervention, ensures that amicable debt collection serves a vital economic and social purpose in the Netherlands.
The Wki as a Quality Standard
The Minister acknowledges the importance of the new Wki for the Dutch collection market: "The new Debt Collection Quality Act, which came into force on April 1, ensures that the collection process is fair and effective, and that quality and integrity remain central to the industry." His appreciation for our professionalism and experience confirmed Ultimoo’s role as a leader in the sector.
