Credit management for financial services providers

Act with care when your customer runs into payment difficulties.

Financial services providers operate in an environment where risk management, duty of care and customer experience constantly intersect. An acceptance policy that is too permissive leads to defaults, while one that is too strict costs revenue. And when a customer runs into payment difficulties, you are expected to act with care — not only commercially, but in a socially and legally responsible way.

Ultimoo guides banks, lenders, insurers, leasing companies and fintech providers through the full credit cycle: from assessing new relationships to collecting outstanding claims, with one goal — managing risk without damaging the customer relationship.

From reactive to preventive

Most organisations design their receivables process around the moment a payment fails to arrive. That is the most expensive point at which to intervene. We shift the process to the front end: better acceptance decisions, timely and personal customer contact, and early identification of payment difficulties before arrears build up.

That shift delivers results on two fronts. Defaults are prevented rather than made good after the fact, and customers in financial difficulty are reached sooner, at a point where a payment plan still works and escalation can be avoided. For a financial services provider with a duty of care, that is not only more efficient, but demonstrably more careful.

Why financial services providers choose Ultimoo

AFM licence and supervision
Ultimoo holds a licence from the Autoriteit Financiële Markten (the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets). For clients in the financial sector, that means a partner operating within the same supervisory framework as you, with the corresponding requirements for business operations, integrity and customer treatment.

Full compliance with the Wki
Since the Wet kwaliteit incassodienstverlening came into force, statutory quality requirements apply to debt collection service providers. Ultimoo was involved in the drafting of this legislation and is NVI-certified. You are therefore outsourcing your claim to a party that demonstrably meets those requirements.

Information security at the right level
Financial services providers work with personal data that requires particular protection. Ultimoo is ISO-certified for information security and quality management, and sets up data exchange in line with the requirements you place on a processor.

Credit information as part of the process
Our credit information services let you assess the creditworthiness of new and existing relationships and identify deterioration in portfolios before it translates into arrears.

Socially responsible collection
We approach every debtor as your customer, not as a case number. That is a choice that fits the duty of care resting on you: in more than 90% of cases, the arrears are resolved without going to court.

Fewer risky acceptances through creditworthiness assessment

A bank providing loans and credit lines to both private individuals and businesses saw a growing number of defaults within its retail portfolio. Arrears only became visible once payments had already been missed — too late to correct course effectively.

Working with Ultimoo, the bank’s credit management team set up an acceptance process with integrated creditworthiness assessment. This gave insight into applicants’ financial position before acceptance, allowing risky relationships to be identified proactively. Combined with stricter acceptance criteria and improved follow-up on payment arrangements, the number of late payments was reduced considerably.
